SIX SIGMA AND TYTAN!

Another Proud Moment For Tytanites!
Tytan recognizes the challenges ahead in positioning itself for long term competitiveness. Whilst management remains focused in developing specific strategies for each of its business units, Tytan kicked off a company wide initiative designed to equip its people for the future. With a view to exceed customer expectations and boost profitability with higher productivity and efficiency, Tytan has embraced Six Sigma as a comprehensive solution for the future. Without doubt, this highlights management's confidence in the Tytan team to adequately master the effective but complex methodologies like the Six Sigma tools.

Underscoring this endeavor, 30 + Tytanites undertook an intensive six day training program under Dr. Noshir Khory of Motorola. Dr. Khory, an authority in Six Sigma, conducted the session especially for Tytan imparting rigorous training in the various Six Sigma tools like SPC, 8D, FMEA and DOE with a dynamic mix of theory, practical case studies and interactive exercises. Dr. Khory held the attention and fired the curiosity of Tytanites with his individual teaching style, real life experiences and multimedia teaching tools like videos.

The Eminent Dr. Noshir Khory
Dr. Khory is eminently suited to not just impart Six Sigma training but also to mentor the Tytan Six Sigma initiative going forward into the projects execution stage. Dr. Khory is privileged to have worked directly under the late Dr. William Smith the founder of Six Sigma at Motorola. He was selected to participate in Motorola's' famous "Bandit" program which took him to Japan where he mastered an understanding of the various Japanese "Lean Manufacturing" techniques. Dr. Khory's pre-eminence keeps him busy training companies worldwide in Six Sigma techniques and traveling on behalf of Motorola on problem solving missions.

After going through the stimulating training, yet whilst still awaiting the results of Dr. Khory's "Black Belt" examination the results of which no doubt is anxiously awaited, it is now up to the Tytanites to deploy the Six Sigma toolbox. Already a number of individual projects have been identified in areas of production, product development & logistics. These projects have won approval and their individual roadmaps have benefited from Dr. Khory's expertise with regards to methodology and approach. His continued involvement is critical to successfully make Six Sigma an integral part of Tytan's DNA.

Six Sigma Czar
Tytan believes, as like other progressive companies of the world, that with a novel approach and innovative interpretation Six Sigma can meet Tytan's aspirations of continuous improvement in all functional areas going well beyond it's original mandate in production. Taking up this challenge is Mr. Hariprasad Joshi Tytan's newly elected Six Sigma Czar. A vote was conducted to select a Six Sigma Czar from seven deserving candidates who had been proposed & short listed earlier. To choose the best suited amongst them, the participants were asked to rate the candidates on four attributes by a secret ballot process. Dr.Noshir Khory played a vital role in deciding the attributes and in designing the selection process. Hari was the choice and he can be assured of the full support of the Tytan team as Tytanites commit themselves whole heatedly to Six Sigma.

Tytan participates in Central Bank of India's Business Summit - 2004

Tytan got an outstanding opportunity to showcase itself & it's products as can be seen in the photographs above. Our bankers in India, Central Bank Of India (CBI), organised a unique Business Summit to facilitate ancillary & small scale industries to interact with large ones.

This innovative program, the brain child of CBI General Manager, Mr. M.B. Khurjekar, was an outstanding success. Inaugurated by His Excellency, The Governor Of Maharashtra, Mr. Mohammed Fasal and well attended by CBI's top brass and industrialists, the Summit also included interesting and productive technical sessions.

We at Tytan take this opportunity to put on record our appreciation to Mr. M.B. Khurjekar (GM), Mr. R.N Vadivelu (AGM), & their respective teams for reposing faith in us by including us amongst the selected few to be afforded the opportunity to participate. We were also delighted by the visit to our Tytan stand by Dr. Dalbir Singh (Chairman & Managing Director) and Mr. V.N Saxena (Executive Director).

"PROJECT MANAGEMENT" WORKSHOP BY DR. AL LEEM!

Dr. Rashid Al leem, Director General of Hamriyah Free Trade Zone & Chairman of the "Alleem Learning Center", Sharjah, conducted an exclusive seminar and workshop for Tytan on project Management & Implementation. Twentysix Tytanites went through an exciting half day programme, especially condensed for the occasion. It was a great learning experience and a rare opportunity spawned by the visit to India by the delegation from Hamriyah Free Trade Zone, headed by the Director General himself.

The occasion took on special meaning since Tytan is currently executing a project for the manufacture of construction chemicals in the Hamriyah Free Trade Zone. The highly interactive workshop kept the Tytanites on their toes with the continuous probing and questioning by the incisive Dr. Al leem.

Our gratitude goes out to Dr. Al leem for spending the time to share with us his deep understanding and knowledge of the principles of successful project management and execution.

Dr. Rashid Al leem is a very eminent figure in the UAE & in addition to him being the Director General of Hamriyah Free Trade Zone, he holds many key responsibilities such as the "Member of Business Development Committee of American Business Council of Dubai and Northern Emirates", "Board Member of Sharjah Charity International (Sharjah Government)" etc. He also has a very profound & extensive professional experience in the area of Training & Development. His passion for the same has resulted his setting up a full fledged Training Center at Sharjah, known as "Alleem Learning Center".
